Question 5
Q: How do I qualify for the High School weight classes in meets that
only offer the new IPF weight classes? I want to lift in the 75 KG
at Nationals, but the weight classes are 74 kg and 83 kg. Do I have
to lift in the 74 KG to qualify or can I qualify in the 83 KG?
A: You may lift in the next class up, but you actual body weight
must be with-in the HS Nationals qualifying weight class. So if you
plan to lift in the 75 kg weight class at Nationals, you must
qualify in an event weighing 75 kg or less, even if you are entered
in the 83 kg weight class.
